Verified Amazon Review: If you are thinking about getting into the investment property game, as I am, it would be well worth your time reading this relatively short book. It may end up saving you a lot of hassles and most importantly, money!
I've been thinking about getting an investment property for some time but I've always put it off as I'm very risk averse. I purchased this book to help me 'get my feet wet' and for that purpose, it served me well.
I've learnt a number of interesting ways agents can try to manipulate and trick you into purchasing something that isn't right for you. My favourite gem was when the author said they say ‘Hurry! Only 3 left in this fast selling development' with the author countering that with 'Don't even think about buying here, because all the good apartments have been sold.' Loved that!
The other valuable tips I picked up included thinking about purchasing personal income protection before I invest and learning about the difference between a 'tax planning accountant' and your garden variety accountant.
The only part I didn't enjoy - which lead me to the 4 stars - was the special offer thrown in in middle of book. The author did very well to build up my trust in him to this point but that special offer took me back to the 'salespersons' realm. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was re-worded and put in the back of the book.
Overall, I found this to be a quick and easy read to introduce me to the broad topic of buying an investment property. I can use it as a springboard to further investigate the parts that still bamboozle me.
